IRIS・SPIRA

Elegance Worn

A strand that can never be assembled twice.

Japanese Akoya cultured pearls, grown in Japanese waters and left undyed and untoned.

Untoned Akoya pearl necklace

Why this price?

RARITY

1. Undyed and untoned

Many Akoya pearls reach the market after treatments such as color toning or bleaching. Our brand never adjusts their color by hand; it is the color in which the pearls were born. As Japanese Akoya production continues to decline, pearls whose beautiful colors and luster match without treatment are exceptionally rare in the global market.

2. Thick nacre, developed through longer cultivation

Round pearls can be produced by inserting a nucleus and cultivating it for a short period, forming a thin nacre layer. Our pearls are cultivated longer than usual to develop thick nacre. Those layers give each pearl its own expression; no two shapes are the same. This individuality, known as baroque, reflects thick nacre, which creates deep luster and interference colors that shift with the angle of light.

3. The same strand can never be recreated

A necklace strand requires dozens of pearls matched in color, luster, and size. Matching them without color toning means waiting for nature to produce pearls with the same expression. Once a strand has been assembled, the same strand can never be recreated.

A message from our representative

FOUNDER
Takashi Hemmi, IRIS・SPIRA Representative

I have devoted forty years to pearls.

From exhibitions in Paris to television shopping programs, we have delivered our pieces to customers around the world. Yet selecting pearls is what takes most of my time. Adjusting their color would make matching easier. Since I decided against that, I can only wait until a strand can be assembled.

If there is a piece you would like to see, please let us know. We can explain it while showing you the actual piece by video call or during a visit to our office.
